Touareg , Egypt Desert Challenge……. A Voyage Through History
Touareg went on one of the extremist experiments ever in the Egyptian Western Desert.

Egyptian Automotive & Trading Co together with Volkswagen AG have organized an event under the name of “ Touareg , Egypt Desert Challenge ”. Mr. Frank Eifling , Africa Sales Manager from Volkswagen AG was present together with our team from EATC . The leader of this trip was Eng. Hisham Nessim one of the pioneer explorers in the Egyptian desert.

Eng. Nessim acknowledged that he has been in the desert for 25 years now and he had never seen an SUV easier and powerful as the Touareg, he said he drives it on the sand like the asphalt exactly".

The Trip was conducted with three powerful TDI V6 Touareg with 3000 C.C., 220 H.P., & 500 NM. The aim of the Touareg desert Challenge was to explore the Touareg in the desert, more important was a social objective which we were keen to include in our trip , The whole group visited el Farafra school , in addition to an Orphanage in EL Farafra where EATC and Volkswagen offered donations and presents to the children , all this was under supervision and support from El Farfra Governorate

The path of the trip started from Cairo to Farafra where the group stopped at the following areas:
1) Karaween Dunes, the Magic Spring, and the White desert.
2) Dragon eye oasis, and Abo Saaid Mountain “ Paris Dakkar Rally Road”
3) Crystal Mountain, the black desert, and the old oasis of Beshmon.
4) Wadi Hitan, and Karoon's Lake.

A success story of the Touareg was After the group went to Abu Saeed Hill (paris-daakar road) a mountain where the desert rally takes place yearly.

The rally cars drive down this hill and one day some rally drivers challenged each other to go uphill instead.

However only two rally cars managed the uphill.

Our team tried to do the same as the rally drivers had once done, and were pleased to find out that the Touareg, even though not rally-tuned, thrived up the hill with speed and agility.

The experience was great and the result was that with the Touareg you can explore the world beyond the normal ways.
